Community

Communities are defined by concerned parents (with kids in or out of school), and participating houses of worship.

Concerned Parents – with Kids in School

Our schools should be safe havens for teaching and learning. School violence not only affects the individuals involved but also may disrupt the educational process and affect bystanders, the school itself, and the surrounding community. School violence can result in such undesired events as suicide and homicide. On June 26,2020 the National Sheriffs’ Association, in recognizing the importance of addressing school violence, issued its amended School Safety Resolution including recommended best practices for school violence prevention.

PreFense® for Schools is a school safety training in this school safety education training program, employing a three-by-three (three protective elements applied at three assessment levels) protection matrix that fills the most commonly known gaps in school safety with recommended best practices. Integrating these with your existing school security, this program trains concerned parents, faculty and staff to remedy vulnerabilities below the threat assessment threshold by limiting physical security (response) dependency and introducing sustainable violence, suicide and child trafficking intervention.

PreFense® for Schools is listed on the National Sheriffs’ Association website Additional Resources on School Safety and Security page and is a vetted.EDU space training program for those parents with kids in school who want to be an active part of their child’s learning environment safety.

Parents choosing to be part of preventing school violence renders everyone involved a learning community stakeholder in maintaining a safe and healthy learning experience. Participation in this school safety education training program results in parents, faculty and staff who are prepared to meet the ever-changing demands of a vibrant and thriving learning environment.

Concerned Parents – with Kids Out of School

PreFense is something that you can provide for your daughter, who is leaving home for the very first time to attend college that will not scare her but rather empower her to be a safe, aware and responsible young adult.

“Old Think” is a protective services term for the way people traditionally looked at self-protection or self-defense versus “New Think” which is taught to the very top echelon of protective services experts around the world.

“Old Think” was simply “Somehow I ended up with a bad guy, or bad guys, in a dark alley holding a gun to my face or a knife at my throat so I need the one self-defense technique guaranteed to work every single time no matter what – like poke him in the eye, punch him in the throat or kick him in the groin, yes?”Most people don’t realize that there is no such thing as a “guaranteed self-defense technique that will work every single time” because if there was one, we’d all know what it was, and you would download theDYI video.

A prominent attorney contacted us and requested a “self-defense solution” for his 17-year-old daughter leaving the house for the first time and going off to college. What could he give her to help keep her safe? Knowing only “Old Think” his initial request was for a self-defense program for her to “get out of a situation.”

We asked him if she’d be willing to put in the 3 to 6 hours of physical training a week over the next six months to develop requisite street-effective practical application of those skills? After completing the training, would she then commit to a subsequent 2 – 3 hours a week sustainment of those skills? To both questions he replied “No.”

We then introduced him to the concept of “New Think” where he could provide her with professional protective services non-physical or mental skills (soft skills) where in just a matter of hours she could take a onetime program of instruction and walk away with the life-saving skills and confidence to use them the very same day. He opted for the “New Think” which he never knew was an option.

Houses of Worship

Today, houses of worship such as churches, synagogues, temples et al, face a unique set of safety and security challenges that weren’t there just a few years ago. Faith-based congregations and their supporting protective details alike are vulnerable to a variety of real-world threats given their direct and immediate contact with open public.

PreFense® is fully compatible with relevant United States Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) houses of worship security assessment and best practices guidelines.

As such PreFense is a vetted.EDU space, DEI, ADA, ESG-compliant, cost effective, violence prevention/ avoidance option that can be offered to your congregation that will facilitate their safety and well-being both while attending functions, events, activities, at home and away.

Empower your faith-based community with PreFense® Online Learning Program resulting in a university certificate of completion.
